How tutoring works

From the first message to the first session usually takes a few days. Here is what happens.

  1. Get in touch

    Call or text 825-966-7690, or send the form. Tell us the grade, the course and what is hard right now.

  2. Try a free first session

    The first 1.5-hour session is free. We get to know the student, find the topics to start with, and agree on goals. If you decide not to continue, you pay nothing.

  3. Choose a time and place

    Sessions run live on Zoom from home or school, or in person in north Edmonton, at times that fit around school and family.

  4. Learn, review, repeat

    Each session builds on the last, and students get notes and practice material to review whenever they need to.

How we teach: learn, practise, master

Every session follows the same three steps, so students understand why a method works instead of memorizing it.

  1. Understand the concept

    We start by clearly explaining the theory, the formulas and the ideas underneath them, broken into simple steps.

  2. Practise with purpose

    The student applies the idea through guided examples, interactive activities and practice aimed at the topics they find hardest.

  3. Master and remember

    Problem-solving and review lock the idea in, so the student can remember it, use it with confidence, and build skills that last.

Our goal: don’t just memorize math. Understand it, practise it, and master it.

Learning should be fun, practical and hands-on. We use games, real-life examples, and examples from the land and the community to make math and science engaging and easier to understand.

What a student needs

  • A computer, tablet or phone with internet, for online sessions
  • Their course notes or textbook, if they have them
  • A quiet spot for about an hour

Every student starts with a free 1.5-hour session. If you decide not to continue, you pay nothing.
